Advent 4
Advent
“And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he as looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.”
Luke 1:46-49

Mary’s song of praise to God is her response to what God has done in her, her beautiful witness to God’s majesty and mercy. She sings and we sing along; her certainty in the might and compassion of God and her recognition of God’s promises being fulfilled become ours. Our spirits join together to rejoice in what God has done for us, according to God’s will.

We give you thanks and praise, O God, for the welcome and witness of Your servants who do Your will and proclaim Your greatness. With glad and reverent hearts, we give You thanks for Mary, and we rejoice with her in wonder and in love. Amen
