Easter
“After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ … Then [the elder] said to me, ‘These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”
Revelation 7:9-10, 14b-15

Persecution is a nightmare. Here in the heavenly temple, those who have been persecuted around the world for trusting in Jesus and the God revealed through him enter into God’s dimension. And they arrive waving palm branches and celebrating the God who has rescued them. This is a sustaining vision that John of Patmos records for the encouragement of the seven churches to whom he writes. Written millennia ago, it now comes as sustenance to us.

We pray for all our brothers and sisters in Christ who suffer persecution today for trusting in You and Your Way. Thank You for securing the future as You intend it to be. Amen
