Advent
“And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God. And they shall live secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth; and he shall be the one of peace.”
Micah 5:4-5a

Protection is part of all caretaking work; responding wisely to adverse circumstances keeps those in care safe and whole. With the LORD’s strength and majesty, the One who is coming is empowered to protect the people of God, like a shepherd facing the threat of exposure and violence, ready to go to great lengths to save the flock. Keeping the peace, providing for us, Jesus is our gentle shepherd.

Jesus, You are for us living water, the bread of life. Shepherd us in Your care, lead us in Your way. Amen
