Epiphany

“Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we will also bear the image of the man of heaven.”

1 Corinthians 15:49

The Church Father, Athanasius, famously said that in the incarnation of Jesus, “[God] became what we are, that we might become what he is.” Athanasius was echoing what Paul is saying here. The goal of redemption is not just that heaven might come into earth, but that heaven and earth will be one: there will be no separation between us and the God who made and loves us beyond measure.

Grant us the courage to live into the promise that You are making us like You are. Even now, let us pursue Your goodness and glory with all we are and have. We pray in the name of Jesus, the man of heaven. Amen
