Epiphany

“But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.”

Luke 6:27-28

This is no easy task. It may seem impossible. And yet it is also at the heart of the world that God is bringing about—where, as the prophet Isaiah puts it, swords are beaten into ploughshares, spears into pruning hooks, and we won’t learn war anymore (Isaiah 2:4). To refuse hatred, violence, and vengeance opens the door to love, peace, and blessing.

This is radical stuff You ask of us, Jesus. But since we have seen You do it, give us courage to follow Your lead, for the sake of the world as You want it. Amen
