Easter

“But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than any human authority.”

Acts 5:29

Peter has grown into the new name Jesus gave him. Now when challenged, he is solid as a rock in his loyalty to the God revealed to him in Jesus. There will be times for us too when human authority does not side with God’s way and intentions, when we must choose whom we will obey. And remember that the way in which we resist will also speak of the God we worship, who did not name-call, incite violence, or act without mercy.

Forgive us when we choose not to obey You and follow in Your merciful way. Help us to forgive others who do the same. We are grateful that You, who will have the world You intend, are patient and full of steadfast love. May we be as You are. Amen
