Easter
“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:1-4

This beloved psalm tells us a lot about the kind of God we love and worship—not a tyrant or a narcissist but a shepherd. God is a shepherd who wields royal authority and power in a gentle, though persistent, guiding way because what God would have for all of us is abundant life as God’s steadfast love and mercy intends.

You are with us, shepherding God, whether we are in a calm or terrifying place. Do not leave us where You find us! Restore our whole selves that we might fear no evil and live to praise and serve only You for the sake and joy of your beloved world. Amen
