Easter
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall [pursue] me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.”
Psalm 23:5-6

The feasting table prepared in verse 5 is not set up to taunt our enemies with how good we’ve got it. This is the LORD’s table, not ours, and God invites our enemies to it along with us so that peaceful resolutions can be found together, under God’s grace. Everything else remaining in the psalm—anointing with oil, overflowing cups, goodness and mercy’s pursuit of us, dwelling in the LORD’s house—flows from this table of reconciliation.

Keep us humble and open to mercy, as You are merciful. Guide us in Your Way of peace that life abundant flows out to all and so that we may dwell with You in Your kingdom come. We pray this in the name of Jesus, who died and rose that we might live. Amen
