Easter
“‘See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone’s work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.’ Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.”
Revelation 22:12-14

As languages like English change, we need to read our translated texts carefully. The Greek word, exousia, translated as “right” is perhaps better read today as “permission.” When God once again dwells with us on earth, authority will still remain with God, thank God. Those who “wash their robes”—who practice the self-giving love we witness in Jesus—will be permitted entrance to the city and access to the tree of life. Though it is noteworthy to remember that the gates of this city will never be shut (21:25).

You are the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end! For that, we are truly grateful. Come soon, Lord Jesus. Amen
