Easter

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God…”

Romans 8:14-16

Are you sitting down? Perhaps we should when we encounter what Paul is here describing to the church in Rome. Like the pillars of cloud and fire that were with the Israelites in their journey from slavery in Egypt to freedom in and for God, we are led by the very Spirit of God! And we too are led from slavery to the status quo (the way the world expects things to be) to the freedom of our identity as adopted children of God.

Abba! Father! Keep us from the easy and deathly trap of fear. Lead us in Your everlasting Way of abundance in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Amen
