Epiphany

“…the priest Ezra brought the law before the assembly, both men and women and all who could hear with understanding…and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.”

Nehemiah 8:2, 3b

Our hearts and souls are made for God’s word. That’s what sustains the inner life of faith and shapes its outward action. As Ezra reads from the scriptures that have nourished God’s people for generations, there is a palpable sense of eagerness, a hunger to hear from the One whose voice sets free.

Keep us attentive to Your word, in the scriptures and in Christ, so that we might find the nourishment we need to walk in the way that You have called us. In the Way, Truth, and Life of Christ, we pray. Amen
